One of the key benefits of using Maya was the ability to pay online without needing a credit card. With its e-wallet, Filipinos were able to pay for anything online. However, it looks like Apple will be dropping its support for it soon.
In an email, Apple informed customers who are using their Maya mobile numbers as payment method that they will be removing it beginning August 16. This means that Apple users will no longer be able to use it for iTunes Store and App Store purchases.
In addition, Apple advised its customers to update their payment method to other supported options to prevent service interruptions.
Fortunately, Maya users will still be able to use the service to buy from the App Store and iTunes Store, albeit in a little different way. Instead of paying via Maya mobile number, the fintech company suggests switching to the free Maya virtual or physical card in the meantime.
