Converge ICT CEO Dennis Anthony Uy announced that they will soon launch their own content distribution platform that aims to give customers an alternative source of entertainment while also allowing content producers to make revenue from advertising.

There’s no denying that there had been a shift in the media consumption behavior of the public, which boosted the growth of on-demand video streaming.

Uy likens the upcoming platform to prominent services like Netflix and HBO Go where there are going to be “different providers, independent producers.”

The said platform, which will be called BlastTV, will be launched by June 2023.

Uy added that the platform will cater to all content providers. More details about the platform should be announced soon, but it’s more likely that it will be an add-on to Converge’s existing fiber plans.

Converge ICT recently expanded its services to Boracay and neighboring areas. They are also preparing for the official formal launch of their prepaid fiber service, Surf2Sawa. The service is aimed at marginalized Filipinos who are looking for a fast, reliable, but “sachet” internet connection.
