The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will be offering a scholarship program for students studying Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) track.
During the Cabinet meeting at the Malacañang Palace on Tuesday, President Marcos Jr. ordered the DICT to give scholarships to STEM students to address the “lack of talent for information and communication technology businesses.”
DICT Secretary Ivan Uy noted that Filipino Information Technology (IT) graduates “do not have the right tools and training required by the ICT industry.”

The PH government recognizes the importance of STEM in order to make the country competitive. They also hope that it will help boost the Philippines’ economy.
But the scholarship program will not be limited to STEM alone. Application will be open to both STEM and non-STEM students that are part of the top 5% of their graduating class.
