As the country is on its way to transforming its public transportation via the public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization, PLDT Inc. B2B arm, PLDT Enterprise, and Service Economy Application’s FILIPAY have teamed up to bring an automated fare collection system and fleet management system for PUVs.

Following the acquisition of Telavi People Counting Camera with Command Center, FILIPAY has bolstered its capability, which allows it to have better logistics, better management of resources, as well as insight into its daily revenue.

FILIPAY President and CEO Janice Ariño said that the integration of cashless payment with Philippine transportation as part of the modernization efforts is “no easy feat.”

With “high standard software and hardware” as major concerns in addition to having a reliable partner in the customer service space, the FILIPAY exec said they have found all three criteria with PLDT Enterprise.

While the goal of implementing the system on a nationwide scale is certainly ambitious, FILIPAY is coming prepared, following a successful launch of a similar, albeit a smaller, solution with the PN Roa Canitoan Transport Cooperative in Cagayan de Oro.

To put the recently acquired Telavi People Counting Camera with Command Center into place, both companies are working alongside the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and other transport teams.
