After revealing the Pad V8 Pro late last year, people were wondering if a vanilla non-Pro variant will ever come out. Well, now it did, as the company announced the Honor Pad V8.
The new Honor Pad V8 comes with a smaller 11-inch IPS display with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and a slightly slower 120Hz refresh rate. The battery capacity was also dropped to 7,250mAh with 22.5W charging.
What makes it special is that, it is the first device to use the new MediaTek Dimensity 8020 processor. This is a 6nm chip that consists of four Cortex A78 cores clocked at 2.6Ghz and four Cortex A55 at 2.0GHz. It has a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU with the tablet getting 8GB of RAM and an option between 128GB and 256GB of expandable storage.
Sadly, it still ships with Android 12-based MagicUI 6.1 user interface. It then has four speakers in a stereo setup with DTS:X Ultra support. Albeit, it lacks a headphone jack.
For connectivity, it has modern dual-band WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. You can also get it with a Magic Pencil 3 stylus and Magic Keyboard.
For cameras, we have a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls, while on the back, there’s a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
The Honor Pad V8 is available in 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants for a price of CNY1,899 (~Php15,200) and CNY1,999 (~Php16,000), respectively. No word yet if it’s also coming to the Philippines.
