The number of internet users subscribed to Converge ICT’s Surf2Sawa fiber prepaid internet service has doubled in Q2 2023 from Q1, displaying good progress in catering to the metro’s low-income areas.
Launched for the first time in Tondo on August 4, 2023, the prepaid internet product saw the Sandiwaan Center just across Smokey Mountain as the site of the event.
Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and Co-founder of Converge ICT, told of his joy to see the Surf2Sawa prepaid fiber internet becoming a household name within the dense communities in Manila, Caloocan, Quezon, and Taguig.
Uy interpreted the consumers’ response to the service as a sign of choosing to leverage the technology to improve the significant facets of their lives, namely social, entertainment, and finance.
Before making its way to Tondo, the Surf2Sawa service has already made its presence across 400 municipalities and cities nationwide.

As of March 2023, S2S subscribers have doubled quarter-on-quarter on their way to hitting the goal of 120,000 subscribers before 2024. Furthermore, as of July 2023, the S2S’s scope of service has expanded to 554 municipalities and cities from Visayas, Luzon, and Mindanao.
As the year reaches its fourth quarter, Converge Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Jesus C. Romero said that the company is looking for further expansion in areas like Occidental Mindoro, Kalinga, the Visayas, including Leyte and Negros Oriental, and the Mindanao, specifically the provinces of Bukidnon, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.
Key to Converge ICT’s expansion is a business model that taps into each community’s sales agents who serve as retailers, essentially giving the neighborhoods livelihood opportunities.
For as low as Php50, Surf2Sawa consumers can take advantage of fast internet on a single day or Php700 for unlimited connectivity across 30 days. Concurrent users are limited to up to six (6) devices, with an average internet speed of 25Mbps.
